Canada Day Picnic in the Park!

Come celebrate Canada Day with your community!

July 1st, from 10am to 2 pm.

Beacon Hill North Community Centre, Radford court, behind Annunciation church on Ogilvie road.

There will be music, freezies, and a Bouncy Castle! And Councillor Tim Tierney will be serving up free Hot Dogs at 11:30 (while supplies last).

Pack a lunch and bring the whole family.

We’ve asked Environment Canada to provide us with a beautiful sunny day, they said they’d try.

Fireworks – JULY 2!

July 2? JULY 2!

We’re aiming for 150 fireworks this year!

We don’t want to compete with the Fireworks on Parliament Hill, especially not this year, and from the feedback we received after last year’s rain delay, July 2nd looks like a better day for our HUGE fireworks show.

July 2nd, Loyola Park, show starts at 9:30!

Please, bring a donation to the Community Association to help us put on the Fireworks show, it is very expensive.

If you’d rather donate online, please click on the PayPal button at

Your Community Association puts on several events throughout the year, the largest of which is our Fireworks show. If you enjoy these events, please consider donating to the Community Association so we can continue trying to make our community the best in Ottawa.

You can donate AT most of our events.

Motorcycle and Scooter Annual Ride To Work Day is Monday, June 19th

Ride to Work Day Mission Statement:
Advocating and supporting the use of motorcycles and scooters for transportation, and providing information about everyday riding to the public.

Teen Volunteers

Our Canada Day festivities require the help of some teenaged volunteers. We will sign off on your school volunteer hours if you need them. We require 6-8 helping at the picnic in the park with games, face painting, bouncy castle, and other activities. We also need about 4 to help us at our fireworks show (sorry, not for fireworks launching).

Please reply to this email if you, or someone you know, would like to help us out for our Canada Day activities.

We’re on Reddit!

For those of you who use (and are most likely addicted to) reddit, we have our own subreddit: /r/BeaconHill

If you don’t know what reddit is, it’s a social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website.

Although there a great many fantastic and interesting subreddits, and we encourage you to seek them out, we’re hoping you subscribe to ours.

Fun Stuff

Noise Maker!

Hey kids!

You can make a fun Canada Day noise maker by following the instructions at Make Magazine here:

Bring them out and show them off at our Canada Day family activities!

You’ll need a penny, so ask your grandparents what that is.
