All Candidates Meeting!

When: Tuesday, October 7th, 2014
Time: Doors open 6:30pm, Meeting start 7pm (arrive early to sign up for BHCA membership)

Format of the meeting:

  1. Welcome message and rules
  2. Trustees – 90 seconds introductory speech each
  3. Trustees – 2 pre-selected questions with 60 seconds per candidate each to respond.
  4. Trustees – 30 second follow-up after each candidate has answered
  5. Councillor – 90 seconds introductory speech each
  6. Councillor – 5 pre-selected questions with 60 seconds per candidate each to respond.
  7. Councillor – 30 second follow-up after each candidate has answered

If there is remaining time between the end of these questions and 9:30pm, we will add in more pre-selected questions.

The order will be determined at random by drawing numbers from a hat at the event immediately prior to the meeting.

Pre-selected questions will be chosen from among the submitted questions from the form below, as well as others that the BHCA executive choose.

Longer form format:

  1. Between 6:30 and 7pm names will be drawn for the speaking order for the questions. This will also be the seating order.
  2. At 7pm the Trustee candidates will sit down at the front.
  3. The president of the BHCA will introduce the event, the moderator and the time-keeper.
  4. Each trustee candidate will be given 90 seconds to introduce themselves in the order from the draw
  5. The first question will be asked, and the candidates will answer in the order from the draw, within 60 seconds
  6. After all candidates have answered the first question, they will each be given 30 seconds, in the order from the draw, to rebut or reply
  7. The second question will be asked, and the candidates will answer in the order from the draw starting from the second person, within 60 seconds
  8. After all candidates have answered the second question, they will each be given 30 seconds, in the order from the draw starting from the second person, to rebut or reply
  9. The president of the BHCA will thank the Trustee candidates for their time and ask the Councillor candidates to sit in the order from the draw
  10. Each Councillor candidate will be given 90 seconds to introduce themselves in the order from the draw
  11. The first question will be asked, and the candidates will answer in the order from the draw, within 60 seconds
  12. After all candidates have answered the first question, they will each be given 30 seconds, in the order from the draw, to rebut or reply
  13. The second question will be asked, and the candidates will answer in the order from the draw starting from the second person, within 60 seconds
  14. After all candidates have answered the second question, they will each be given 30 seconds, in the order from the draw starting from the second person, to rebut or reply
  15. Each subsequent question will be answered in the same order as the draw, but starting at the next candidate from the previous question.
  16. If  time permits (before 9:30pm), a 6th or 7th question may be asked
  17. If time does not permit, we will finish the current question round and not continue to the next question, regardless of how many have been asked.
  18. No candidate will receive the questions ahead of the event.
  19. Candidates may hand out literature anywhere at the event but must refrain from handing it out in the Cafetorium itself.
  20. No signs or banners are to be present in the Cafetorium
