Climate disruption & wild weather:
Global to Glebe
Tuesday, February 10, 7:30 pm
Ecclesiax, 2 Monk St
Presented by Paul Beckwith,
Department of Geography, Ottawa University
Ph.D. Topic: Abrupt Climate Change
Topic Summary: Our “climate system” is destabilizing, causing extreme weather events more often, with greater intensity and longer durations. Extremely rapid warming in the Arctic region is the root cause. Paul will explain in everyday language the latest science behind this, and also how the disruption will quickly worsen this decade. He will examine Global to Glebe ramifications to determine what we must do.
Paul presented a talk on the global methane emergency in the Arctic at the COP20 conference in Lima, Peru, December 2014.
