Our Annual General Meeting is taking place on Monday, October 24, from 7:30-9:00 PM at the GSAC (Gloucester Senior Adults’ Centre) in the Main Hall, 2020 Ogilvie road. We will be discussing many things, including some of the wording in our Constitution, a Farmer’s Market, and the Interprovincial Bridge. Please attend this important meeting, and bring us your ideas on how to make Beacon Hill an even better place.

There is still time to provide input to Phase 2A public consultations on the Interprovincial Bridge.
If you were not able to participate in the first round of public consultations that took place in June 2011,  there is still an opportunity to submit your comments and feedback online using a “Do it Yourself Kit” provided by the  National Capital Commission (NCC) consultants.
Corridor 6 (Lower Duck) is one of three sites being studied for the new interprovincial bridge. This site is located opposite the Green’s Creek Environmental Center in Beacon Hill North.
We urge you to complete this process, as this feedback will identify the community attributes and corridor characteristics that need to be considered and protected through the analysis, design, and final selection process.  The web site may be taken down shortly, so please provide your input sooner, rather than later.

This year, now that Beacon Hill South has joined us, we have a few more rinks to watch over. We need several volunteers to help us watch over the rinks. There are volunteer hours that can signed off for High School credit. Some shifts come with a small stipend. As well, we’re looking for a Manager to organize the rinks and volunteers, so if you’re a manager, or a student in management, leisure studies, or some other discipline that you think could help, please email us at

Farmer’s Market

You may or may not have heard, and in case you haven’t, your Beacon Hill Community Association is working on bringing a weekly Farmer’s Market to our wonderful corner of the world. We need a few more volunteers to help us organize and make make phone calls.

Social Events

We’ve discussed hosting one or two social events throughout the year. In the early and mid-80’s the BHCA held several dances (for adults) and (for fun) Casino evenings. If these types of events interest you, please let us know by voting on our home page.

Lost Your Cat? We’ve Found One!

She’s a female Siamese. No collar, no microchip (we checked at Blair Animal Hosp,). It showed up in a member’s yard Sept. 17 (in Beacon Hill North, near La Verendrye Drive and Glenfern) and was hanging around the neighbour’s house the evening before, wanting to get in. It’s safe in a member’s basment for now. Please share this news so we can find the owners. Email us at if you know to whom this cat belongs. Thanks!
